What is Ikigai? And how do you discover your own Ikigai?
New at Ikigai accessories blogs is that we will give Ikigai expert Brenda Serrée the podium. With her Ikigai blogs and podcast series ‘Discover your Ikigai’, Brenda inspires about how Ikigai can enrich your life and work. Especially for those who want to attract more energy, fun and fulfilment. The podcasts are conversations with ( well-known) people and entrepreneurs with a strong Ikigai or purpose of life. Just like Ikigai accessories, Brenda loves to show her colours in order to contribute to a more beautiful world. Today she writes her first blog for Ikigai Accessories.
Brenda explains how you can use the famous Ikigai circles to clarify your Ikigai. These Ikigai circles are about:
1. WHAT DO I LIKE TO DO?
Think of all kinds of things you like to do. When filling in your Ikigai circles, first look very wide and then narrow them.
2. WHAT DOES THE WORLD NEED?
Sometimes this seems bigger than it needs to be. It could be what your friends or colleagues at work need from you. It could be love, attention or help. It does not have to be as big as Deepak Chopra, Steve Jobs or Major Bosshardt. Make it smaller for yourself, and you will get very far with your Ikigai. (If you like, you can download the Ikigai sheet. You will then also receive a video explanation of the circles that can be particularly helpful with this question).
3. WHAT CAN YOU GET PAID FOR?
If you are good at something, such as social media knowledge, you can be paid for creating social media content or for maintaining Facebook and Linkedin. Companies can hire you for this.
4. WHAT ARE YOU GOOD AT?
This we usually know. Sometimes it is also related to your passion, but that is not necessary.
In this Ikigai podcast, tea sommelier Linda Appelman and Ikigai expert Brenda Serrée talk about appreciating the small, about true wealth instead of having lots of money, about the power of coaching and about what you can do to discover your Ikigai or your purpose of life.
